LONDON SALES OPEN. CROSSBREDS PAR TO 10% UP. MERIXOS 5 TO 10 P.C. DOWN. (Received 10 a.m.) LONDON, May 2. The-third series of London wool eales lias opened. There were 9548 bales offered, including 5561 New Zealand, and 8449 bales were sold. There was a good selection of crossbreds, which met with a strong demand from the Home trade and were well cleared. Merinos were frequently withdrawn owing to low bids. Compared with the close of the last series crossbreds, fine, were at par; medium and coarse, were 5 to 10 per cent higher; and plipes 10 to 15 per cent higher. were par to 5 per cent lower. New Zealand greasy crossbred ''Kourarau" realised 10% d to WAd per lb; scoured crossbred "N.Z.W.M.A.," U%d to 1494 d: *lipe halfbred combing lambs "T.B. and 5.," ]o%d to 14d; slipe halfbred lambs "Three Crowns," 14d; slipe crossbred lambs "Three Crowns," lOttd to 15d. Quotations for New Zealand greas-y wools in good average condition at the close of the March London sales were: Merinos. 60-64 V: Super. 14d to lod; ordinary, lid to 12d; inferior.
