FIANCEE'S GOOD EFFORT.

IN CAPITAL ORDER

(From Oar Own Correspondent.) HAWERA, Monday. Special interest is being taken in the work on the Hawera tracks, and with the splendid fields the Kgniont Club has only to be favoured with fine weather to be assured of a successful meeting. The track is in firet-rate order, and latest gallops were performed on splendid galloping ground. There will be no excuse for local horses not holding their own with the visiting competitors, as they are in lirst-iate racing condition.

Disturbed will have an opportunity to prove his class in the hurdle events, as he will meet etifi'er opposition than lie encountered during his run of successes. Di.stui bed echooled attractively with Silk Sox and Amoroso. The latter did well for a novice at the game, while Silk Sox has only to remain sound to show that he is not yet a spent light. Much interest will be taken in Disturbed's showings, as lie is well seasoned to commence a winter campaign.

Daisy Chain, Viracious, Silver Gift and Huiuleh also figui o in the same raee. Daisy Chain has plenty of sliced, but does not hang on too solidly, and Silver (jiii't will not need a leenrrenee of her blooding trouble to settle hor chances, but hotter things can be expected of Humleh, whose performnuce at Wavwley is not accepted, for his rider eased him np under a misapprehension.

Xotiura is to contest tlio Hawera Handicap, run over seven furlongs, and lie is particularly well placed with 7.0. Thin was a capital workout, and with Rneeeall, who is in the same rare at B.in. went .satisfactorily over five furlongs in 1.5. Lady Kyiii has not demonstrated a return to form in her recent gallops, anil cannot he recommended as a probability ae when at her beet .she is/a good track worker. Frieslnnd will attract attention when paraded for the llaeßae Memorial. He is in capital order, and ho comfortably held Lickern in a gallop over five furlongs covered in 1.5. Dark Eagle is a fit horse, and sprinted half a mile in .10s. Ffe is well placed in the Tawhiti Hark Handicap run over seven furlongs. Pretty Lass will also come in for eerious consideration in this race. This mare early gave the impression by her track work that she would develop into one capable of racing; over a bit of Broiind. and she certainly looks like fulfillinp that promise. Kokako has for some time priven indications of being touched in the wind, which does not enhance his prospects, and Lady Hoden and Amoroso look the beet of the Hawera representatives in the Hack Scurry. Naughty Marietta hae resumed work after a spell.
