Island May, on April 27, and committing theft. Nciling and Reeves were charged also with unlawfully converting a motor car, valued at £100, the property of Cordon Stewart Traill. Later ill the night the constable again saw till* car, but at the time knew nothing of the alleged conversion. Ho received this in loriiia tio a On returning to the Wellington South police station, and in company with Countable .\. Ansell, went to intercept the ear. They acted on the iiMiimpt ion that the car would return front Island Hay, but when it appeared In Adelaide Itoad the constable* were unable to stop it. They hired a taxi and gavo chase Immediately. It was alleged that the car travelled through city streets at a high speed and on occasions tried to run the taxi off the road. It wiw alleged also that articles were thrown at the driver of the taxi. The chase wim continued to Petone, #aid Detective-Sergeant Doyle, and one man jumped out, but the taxi driver succeeded in heading the other car on to the road leading to Kastbourne. The police followed the wanted car until it reached Kastbourne and entered ii blind road. Nelllug and Neevea were arrested and a large quantity of property alleged to have been was found iu the car. Holmes was arretted later in the night by Detective K. Tripney.
