INCREASE BENEFITS. EXPANDING PRODUCTION. MR. SAVAGE AT FACTORY. '"Unices the benefit of increased production goes your way in an equitable proportion, the nation stops; the Prime Minister coufitn't eat all the biscuits you are producing, and neither could your directors," said the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, when he addressed to-day the assembled employees of Bycroft, Limited, flourmillers and biscuit manufacturers, after inspecting the company's factory. "You, too, must be in a position to eat those biscuits," Mr. Savage said. "It is the people who are engaged in industry, when it comes to a final showdown, who must be responsible for consumption as well as for production," At the opening of his remarks, the Prime Minister congratulated the directors, employees and all others associated with the factory on the work they were lining. He emphasised the immense importance of production in the structure of a nation.

"Speaking as a representative of the Government and of the people, I want to say that when you in industry cease to function, I die as a political force," he said. "Every time you ease up. I must ease up a* a political force. What von don't do, I can't do—l'm just as he-lples* as » newly born babe when von leave me alone,"

The Prime Minister declared that the Government's job was to see that the benefits of increased production came buck to the people who were responsible for the increase.' The ta*k of building Xew Zealand industry was a big one. and the gap left by the limiting of imports had to be filled.

Again showing the keenest interest in bis viewing of industry at first hand. Mr. Savage wag enthusiastically received by the gathering of employees and warmly thanked by principals of the company for his visit. His party was accompanied through the factor? bv Mwwrn. Geo. H.
