GRAPES FIRMER. PEARS AGAIN EASIER. GLUT OF WATER MELONS. Jonathan and Golden Delicious apples were in good demand at the City Markets to-day, while other apples had a fair inquiry. Values of pears were easier, Coles being in fair demand, but Winter Nclis hard to sell. Supplies of tomatoes were shorter and values firmer. Only a small quantity of hothouse grapes was marketed and prices were tinner. Persimmon:) had a poor inquiry and tree tomatoes had little demand. Te Kauwhata grapes were in short supply. There was a good demand for lemons.

Tree tomatoes: New black, 8/ per case; yellow, 5/ to 6/3. Oranges: California!!, Sunkist, 32, 6 to 33/ per case. Lemons: Choice cured. 16/ to 23/ per case; others, 12/ to 15,'. Bananas: Ripe, 10/ to £1 per case. Grapes: Te Kauwhata, 8/ to 12/ per case; Coleman—Extra choice, 1/7% to 1/9. Paesion fruit: 5/ to 7/ per case. Figs: 2/ to 3 6 per case. Persimmons: 2/6 to 3/ per case. Vegetables. Supplies of cauliflower were heavy, but good lines sold well. Cabbages were not no plentiful and choice lines realised high •prices. Carrots were in good supply, with a tendency to higher prices. There was an over-supply of swedes, which sold at lower rates. Although there was a good supply of lettuce available, the quality wan generally poor and any good lines sold well. Onions were in short supply, realising high prices for good quality. There was a glut of watermelons, which were not in demand owing to the colder weather. Celery was very plentiful, selling at fair prices for this time of the year. Choice pumpkins realise high prices.
