BENEFIT FOR INJURED PLAYERS. A WINDFALL OF £300. I - At last night's meeting of the Auckland Rugby League Control Board the chairman, Mr. G. Grey Campbell, stated that the injured players' fund will benefit to the extent of approximately £300 as the result of the matches played against the Eastern Suburbs team.
"The visit was successful in every direction, and the Sydney players had asked that their appreciation should be expressed for the hospitality shown by many followers of the code. The conduct of the visiting players was a credit to any code."
A Marist forward ordered off in the match against the Eastern Suburbs team was suspended for two playing Saturdays. Mr. Campbell stated that it was the intention of the board to view very seriously any further reports of rough play.
The Auckland Football Association wrote regarding unfinaneial players leaving one code to join another, thus avoiding their obligations. It was'decided to co-operate in the matter, provided specific cases were brought under notice.
The junior control board advised that its competitions would commence next Saturday week, and that there was an increase in teams in all grades.
Transfers approved:—H. Zane, Manukau to North Shore; M. Pitt, Mount Albert to North Shore: V. Newcombe, Ponsonby to North Shore; F. G. Wells, Ponsonby to Papakura; H. Collins, Mount Albert to Manukau.
