SUCCESSIVE DELAYS.
THE LINER MONTEREY.
KOW SAILING AT 6 P.M. TO-DAY.
Events have conspired to delay the departure from Auckland this trip of the Matson liner Monterey. Originally scheduled to leave at 10.30 last night, she will not now leave until 6 o'clock this evening.
To begin with, the liner thould nave arrived on Friday. April 14; but labour troubles at San* Francfeco delayed her departure so that she did not arrive in Auckland until yesterday. Aβ the result of a dense fog in the Gulf she did not berth until 10.30 a.m., three hours and a> half later than usual.
Before the vessel's actual arrival, the time of her departure «»i- announced a* 10.30 p.m., but when she berthed it was given out that she would not sail till 11.30 p.m. Subsequently, however, it was decided that the vessel would not sail until 3 o'clock this afternoon. This morning it was found impossible to get the vessel away at that time, and hrf sailing was further postponed until 6 p.m. to-day. The eucee-sive delays are stated to be due to the extra amount of cargo to be worked, combined with the unavoidable late start made in working it.
