Engagements Announced.
Sturgeon—Long.—The engagement is announced between Maisie Hilda, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. Long, of Auckland, t<l James Sturgeon, elder eon" of Mr. and Mre. J. T. Sturgeon, of Dunedin.
Hewitson —Blackie. —The engagement is announced between Olive Stuart, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Blackie, "The Heights," Birkenhead, and Thomas George, third son of Mrs. and the late Mr. R. Hewitson, of Auckland.
LABOUR PARTY. The April meeting of the women's group of the Otahuhu branch of the Labour party, presided over by Mrs. Jones, was of special interest as Mrs. Cassidy, J.P., gave an interesting and* descriptive talk on her experiences whilst in the war zone in China. Pictures of various places of interest were also handed around for examination.
BERKELEY LOUNGE. The Berkeley Lounge at Mission Bay was once again thronged during the week-end with dancers, who on Saturday night had the advantage of the refreshing sea breezes which blow into the dance floor from the harbour. '
Among those present were members of the cast of "The Women," including Mollie Hurley, Pearl Schweig and Sylvia Parish. Others present were: Misses Pat Patterson, Ivy Birt, Marjorie and Joan Smythe, Jean Bayfield and Nan Tetley.
