TUAKAU BURGLARY.

TOWN BOARD'S OFFICE.

£43 IN CASH TAKEN.

Early yesterday morning thieves entered the offices of the Tnakau Town Board by smashing a pane] in the front dpor, blew open a safe in the strong, room and stole £43 in notes and silver.

After gaining entrance in the bottom floor of the town hall building, the thieves forced the door leading to the Town Board's offices upstairs with a jemmy. Evidently a strong charge of gelignite was used in the door of the safe, which wne blown off. The money stolen included £5, £1 and 10/ banknotes, but the largest proportion was in silver. The offices were locked before noon on Saturday, but the hall below was closed after the usual picture show on Saturday night.
