TUAKAU BURGLARY.
TOWN BOARD'S OFFICE.
£43 IN CASH TAKEN.
Early yesterday morning thieves entered the offices of the Tnakau Town Board by smashing a pane] in the front dpor, blew open a safe in the strong, room and stole £43 in notes and silver.
After gaining entrance in the bottom floor of the town hall building, the thieves forced the door leading to the Town Board's offices upstairs with a jemmy. Evidently a strong charge of gelignite was used in the door of the safe, which wne blown off. The money stolen included £5, £1 and 10/ banknotes, but the largest proportion was in silver. The offices were locked before noon on Saturday, but the hall below was closed after the usual picture show on Saturday night. The caretaker discovered th« burglary when be reached the building fct OMW ©clock yesterd&y morning.
