DOUBLE FATALITY SEQUEL.
ALLEGED NEGLIGENT DRIVING

As a sequel to the Mosgiel tragedy the police arrested William Alexander Tait (30), a lorry driver, who works at Outram, but who come* from Oamaru. Tait wae charged in the Police Court with negligent driving causing death and was remanded to April 26 on bail of £400. The inquest was opened and adjourned. The poignancy of the tragedy is heightened Dy the fact that the two victims were engaged and had been spending the evening with Miss Thomson's parents, where, her father was celebrating a birthday. The father saw them off at 11.30 on Saturday night. Nearby residents heard a smash, but the impact had thrown the bodies and the cycle off the road, eo nothing was visible. See report on page 11.
