"ENGLAND" WINS.

SOCCER OPENING.

MATCH AT BLANDFORD PARK.

By three goals to nil a team of Engliehborn players defeated a Scottisfo-born eleven at the opening game of the Soccer season held at Blandford Park on Saturday. The match was fast and exciting.

D. Warren, goalie for England, gave a sound display, with A. Sime and R. West providing a strong defence and distributing the ball to advantage in clearing. England was stronger in the middle line, and the combined play of this trio was mainly responsible for the victory. Lund was an excellent pivot, and Sale, at right-half, played a clever game. Clever footwork and well-directed passes were displayed by Rouse on the left. The front line was led by Bennett, a newcomer, who hae had experience in the English Casuals team. It. Wood and J. Wood showed out in several combined efforts, but Needliam and Haydon on the left were more impressive. Cowie defended Scotland's goal well and had little chance with the goals that beat ■him. Riggans and Orr were not up to their best form, but Wiseman was sound at centre-half, defending strongly and sending hie forwards away with good passes. F. Blackie fed his forwards well, but displayed a tendency to run them out of position. Peebles,'a newcomer from the Navy, « s left-hnlf, broke up attacks well, and C. Blackie, on the right wing, showed out with some clever play. Inside of him was A. Blaekic. a schoolboy, who showed a Bound knowledge of the position. On the left'. Dean made nice nyis down the line, and Fyfie, at inside-left, played well. Jepson was not up to his usual form. Haydon (2) and Bennett scored for England.
