GOOD MIDDLEMORE ROUND.

YOUNG OUT OF BAXUN CUP.

A round of 72 at Middlemore by G. W. S. Williams, last year's club champion, was a feature of the club competitions on Saturday. Williams wae contesting a Stableiord, which he won with a totai of 39. Strokes were taken at the holes where competitors received their usual bogey handicaps. This ie the correct manner of playing a Stableford, and clubs have been in error in the past in adding the bogey handicap at the end of the round. At Titirangi the first round of the Ballin Cup match play was played, and three of the low markers, H. D. Brinsden, R. M. George and J. M. Coltman, held their places, but J. H. Young, scratch, was defeated by J. Murray. A medal handicap at Maungakiekie wae hard to win, two players breaking 70. W. Calderwood, with a round of 77—5—68, was the winner. At Glendowie A. Kildare won the medal handicap with a net 70. The Paterson Cup foursome match was commenced at Akarana, R. .Lewis and W. Rogers leading the qualifying field with a net 71.
