FRUITLESS SEARCH.
LAUNCH TRAGEDY VICTIM.
tlant: diverted from route. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WAIHI, this day. The Auckland-Gisbornc mail and passenger 'plane was diverted yesterday from its course with a view to assisting in the search for the body of Mr. Marius Lewis Murphy, who was one of the two men drowned when the launch Mako capsized on the Bowentown bar on Easter Mondav.
The 'Plane flew low over the Waihi ocean beach, the Bowentown Heads and the shores of Matakana Island, but no trace of the missing body was discovered. The search was made following representations by Sergeant Edwards, of Tauranga, at the request of Sergeant Dunn, of Waihi.
The late Mr. Murphy saw active service in France with the New Zealand Field Artillery. The condition of Mr. W. Curtis, owner of the wrecked launch, who was admitted to hospital on Tuesday suffering from chill and shock, is still considered serious.
