THEFTS OF CARGO.
PREVALENCE MENTIONED. WATERSIDER IMPRISONED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday. The prevalence of thefts of cargo was stressed in the Police Court to-day when William Donald Gillies (50), watersider, pleaded guilty to the theft of miscellaneous clothing, valued at £7 19/6, the property of the New Zealand Shipping Company. Accused was searched coming away from the Rangitane at Pipitea wharf. So far this year, it was stated, the accused had earned £9 13/11 a week, and had £16 15/10 in 4iis possession. He was sentenced to three months' gaol.
