AUTUMN MEETING AT AVONDALE.

Light Woollen Suiis And Costumes Popular.

The first day of the Avondale Jockey Club's autumn meeting opened to-day under perfect weather conditions. Bright autumn sun and an absence of any wind encouraged racegoers to wear their lighter autumn suits and some very attractive ensembles and lightweight frocks, worn under autumn coats, were to be seen. Woollen suits in the gay new shades ranging from petunia to cyclamen were popular, while black relieved with brighter coloured accessories was again a fashion favourite. A large variety in shape and size was shown in the hat* worn to-day, a definite Edwardian trend being the keynote of the millinery.
