INCORPORATION APPLICATION

WELLINGTON, Tuesday

According to private cable advice received in Wellington to-night. Commander Sir Cooper Rawson (Conservative—Brighton), will ask a question in the House of Commons hi support of the Oxford Group's recent application for incorporation into a nunpnilit association.

Sir Cooper, who gained the greatest majority in the country at the last election, the cablegram states, will ask tho President of the Board of Trade. Mr. Oliver Stanley, if he "can make any announcement about an application for a license for the incorporation of a non-profit earning company under the name of the Oxford Group and has he received petitions supporting the application by 123 members of Parliament, representing all parties, by many religious leaders. Lord Mayors, Mayors, aldermen, councillors and business and professional men throughout the country?"

The message adds that it is understood that among the signatories mentioned in Sir Cooper's question are 110 representative Oxford men, including heads, professors and fellows of Oxford colleges, l<s bishops of the Church of England, principal ministers of Nonconformist churches and many trades union officials. Civic petitions have been sent from virtually every major city in England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Dublin.

The Oxford Group recently announced that it was extending its activities, which would necessitate an application for the incorporation of the association, but not for profit, the objetjt being to give the group a- legal personality.
