CHILLED BEEF JUDGED.
HAWKE'S BAT WINNERS.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
HASTINGS, Tuesday
Judging on the hooks of the entries in the Hawke's Bay Chilled Beef Championship, begun on Saturday by Mr. J. Barr, was completed at the Tomoana works to-day. Results are as follow.—Section 1 (6801b and under): C. T. Keeble, 1; R. F. Rogers, 2; E. A. Barker, .i. Section 2 (6811b to 8001b): Matapiro Station, 1; T. White, 2; E. Gordon Williams, 3.
Commenting on the entries, the judge said the general standard was high. He considered that the great proportion of the cattle would compare very favourably with chilled beef from any other part of the world. The carcases will be railed to-morrow to Wellington, where they will be loaded on the Arawafor London. At the Sniithfield Market, they will be judged for the last time. On March 24 the cattle were judged on the hoof by Mr. 8. S. Tim its, of Waiiganui, who awarded first place to an entry from the Matapiro Station.
