CAUGHT IN HOTEL BAR.
WHEN SERGEANT ENTERED.
Uoihg into a hotel bar at 5,50 yesterday to find Victor Harold Morrieon attempting to conceal something which he was exhibiting to another man, Sergeant Coddington became suspicious and naked Morrieon to accompany him outside. On the way the sergeant saw Morrison throw a piece of paper a way Morrieon, who had a double chart on him, appeared before Mr. C. R Orr Walker, S.M., in the Police Court thl* morning to plead guilty to a charge of carrying on the occupation of a bookmaker. He wan represented by Mr. F. W. Schramm. Senior Sergeant Calwell told tile magistrate that Morrison admitted he had been "nt the game" for about two years, but only in a very small way. He had never been in trouble before.' Stating that Morrison was only laying chilling doubles, Mr. Schramm* added that his client was what was known as a "peanut better," The magistrate imposed a fine of £10 and costs. .
