REVELRY AND DRAMA.
Diplomats At Fancy Dress Ball In Moscow. FURTIVE WHISPERING. LONDON, March 24. Drama was enacted in Moscow while diplomatists danced at the Italian Embassy, savs the correspondent of the "Daily Mail." The Italian Ambassador, Signor Rosso, was dressed as an American Indian, g the Polish Ambassador, Dr. Grybowski, as a fox-hunter, and the German Ambassador, Count von Schulenburg, as an Egyptian. A note of festivity prevailed everywhere, says the correspondent. There was plenty of champagne and gaiety, but the diplomats conversed furtively in every secluded corner. A messenger from the German Embassy arrived, waving a paper, at 2 a.m.. asking for the Ambassador, who, with his gaily-clad staff, hurried to an ante-room to talk over something. The Russian Foreign Commissar, M. Litvinoff, now appeared in evening dress and danced the "Lambeth Walk," after which he visited groups of diplomats in turn, including von Schulenburg. with whom he had a long and cordial conversation. The diplomats dispersed at dawn and were at their desks early, says the correspondent, preparing reports for their Governments.
