VETERAN RAILWAYMAN.
PRESENTATION TO MR. DASH.

WELLINGTON, Monday.
To mark Mr. E. J. Dash's retirement after holding the office of president for the record term of seven years, delegates to the biennial conference of the Amalgamated Society of Railway J3ervants to-day presented him with a gold watch and Mrs. Dash with a gold wristlet watch.
A member of the national council of the society for 25 years, Mr. Dash is a member of the Railways Superannuation Board. He was a member of the Railways Appeal Board and has given evidence before Select Committees of the House of Representatives on matters affecting railways and the society. He was a workers' delegate to the International Labour Organisation conference at Geneva in 1937.
Mr. Dash recently retired on superannuation from the railway service. He will remain president of the society until his successor is,decided by ballot in AprjrL ,
