FOR EIGHT OFFENCES.
CRIMINAL'S COMPLAINT.
! "I have a list of about eight offences, and the amount involved would not be more than £200. Yet I have done 20 years in gaol. It is practically impossible for an habitual criminal to get a job and go straight. I think something should be done about the Act. I wan out on license at the time of this offence and I met some gdod people, but an employer won't give a man a job if he knows the man is an habitual criminal."
This statement was made by Archibald Andrew Charles Scott, aged 45, engineer, in the Police Court to Mr. C R. Orr Walker, S.M., when Scott pleaded guilty to a charge of breaking and entering and theft of goods valued at £40 8/, also to a charge of the theft of a bicycle valued at £4 10/. Evidence was called to show that the house of Harvey Henry Creep, at Taneton Terrace. Blockhouse Bav, had been entered on January 3 last and cutlerv jewellery, clothing and a brief biiff taken. °
