COMRADES' CLUB.
The Comrades' Club held a carnival night at their weekly social to, mark the occasion of their first birthday. A special buffet supper and birthday cake, also favours of all description, helped to make the evening a wonderful success. Mr. Knox, the oldest member of the club, blew out the candle and cut the cake. During the evening the president, Mrs. Grier, made presentations to the pianist, Mrs. Sutherland, and to Mrs. Jefferies, who has always obliged with extras. Mrs. Grier spoke of the way these two ladies had helped to build up the club, with their eagerness to help.
Dancing and cards were enjoyed and prizes were won by Mrs. Jefferies and Mrs. Wrightson. The Monte Carlo was won by Mrs. Willis and Mr. Freney and Mrs. Thomas and partner. Card winners were Mr. Kelly and Mr. Hutton.
