ANNUAL CONFERENCE BIG GATHERING AT NAPIER. FULL PROGRAMME ARRANGED (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.l XAPIER. this day. Between tlireo ami four hundred delegates from all parts of Xew Zeaiand are in Xapier for the annual conference of the Rotary movement. Delegates arrived yesterday and, following an informal "get together" function last evening, a start was made to-day with the business proper of the conference. There is a, full programme, extending over four days, ahead of the conference. To-day's chief engagements were the opening of the conference by the Speaker of the House of Rerpresentatives, the Hon. W. E. Barnard, an address by the district governor, Mr. G. W. Hutchison (Auckland), and an address by Air. Angus Mitchell, of Melbourne, the representative at the conference of Rotary International, group meetings and discussions, and an address by Mr. W. T. Foster, headmaster of the Xapier Boys' High School and formerly of the Auckland dram mar School on "The Urgent Importance of International Amity." To-monwv's projjramme includes a civic reception, an addre«s by Dr. Harold B. Turhott. of the Department of Health, Hamilton, on "Prohlema of the Maori Race." and discussions and consideration of resolutions On Friday tlm conference will bo addroeaed hv the Her, Arthur Nelson on "Boys Will be Men." and by Mr. W. E." Lewisham, president of the Auckland Rotary Club, on "The Implementation of Rotary'e Objects," and will be engaged in completing formal business, including the election of officers. There will also be a social programme, embracing garden parties, a hall on Thursday night, picture ]>arties, card evenings and private entertainment*.
