NEW WOMEN'S CLUB.
The New Women's club recently commenced its 1939 activities with an address by Mrs. L. Bond on "Consumers.and the Co-operative Movement." Mrs. Bond gave an outline of the development of the movement from the days of Robert Owen up to the present, showing the possibilities if a similar enterprise was commenced in New Zealand.
Mrs. R. Hayman, of Wellington, presented her report of the conference held recently in that city by members of the Pan-Pacific Women's Association. Mrs. Hayman attended as delegate from the New Women's Club. The president, Mrs. W. B. Darlow, presided.

The annual picnic, which was held at Motuihi Island, was well attended, and members and their friends spent an enjoyable day. The results of the races and competitions -were:—Bathing beauty parade, Mrs. 'ty; B. Darlow;'most modern grandmother, Mrs: L. Howden; threelegged race, Mrs. Harper* White and Mrs. Jacobi; running race,'-Mrs. C. R. Furness.
