OBITUARY.
MRS. P. ELLERY.
The death has occurred of an old Tauranga resident, Mrs. Ellery. wife of Mr. F. Ellery, at the age of 77. Born at Upper Hutt, Mrs. Ellery resided for some time at Marton, where ehe took part in several presentations by the Marton Operatic Society. She came with her husband to Tauranga after sixteen years at Kaetihi, and had lived there since.
MR. JOHN McDOUGALL
With the death of Mr. John McDougall, of Hayden Street, City, during the week-end, the Auckland waterfront lost one of its best-known characters. Mr, McDougall—"Old Mac," as he was called—had been a night-watchman for the Northern Steamship Company for many years, and all who had anything to do on the wharves at night came to know and respect him. He was a seaman in the employ of the company before he was transferred to the land job. He is survived by his brother, Mr. James McDougall, of Mount Eden.
MAJOR WILLIAM FLEMING.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) DUNEDDT, this day. A well-known officer who left with the main body of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force died after a lengthy illness, in the person of Major William Fleming. Connected with the Territorial forces before the war he proved himself a valued officer. Leaving for active service with the Otago Infantry. , he was severely wounded at Gallipoli and invalided home.
Until compelled to resign on account of ill-health, Major Fleming took a keen interest in the work of the St. John Ambulance Association.
