NEW BRAZILIAN STAMP
A NEW Brazilian 5000 reis stamp was issued in connection with the Rio de Janeiro Philatelic Exhibition.
It k a particularly interesting one, as it shows Rowland Hill, who introduced the penny postage in England, as well ag reproductions of the penny black stamp and the first Brazilian issue.
Great Britain had the first postage stamps, the penny black and the twopenny blue, both in the same beautiful design showing Queen Victoria. Brazil was one of the first countries to follow suit and In July, 1843, three •tamp* from that country appeared.
