PROGRAMME FOR FIRST SAY.

Excellent acceptances have been received b> the Waikato Racing Club for the first day of its summer meeting, which opens at Te Rapa next Saturday.

Of the 25 nominated for the Storey Memorial Cup, 15 remain. The chief defection is Valamito, but the stable is still represented by Rounrl Up. Mazir recently .injured himself and it was stated that Majority had a swollen foot and had to be eased up for a little while, hence their withdrawals. De Friend did not go at Matamata, while the other horses who were not paid up for did not seriously appeal over a mile and three furlongs However, there is plenty of material for a fine race. Round Up still maintains his ground at the head of . the list, but with hie solid impost of 9.9 he will find several below him who should Keep him busy throughout. Cheval de Volee has an excellent chance to reproduce his winning form at both the Auckland summer and midsummer meetings. Lady Montana appears as likely to be hard to dispose of. while Malagigi and Gay Rose may also have friends. Lady Montana, C'heval de Volee and Malagigi may be most favoured just now.

Only four have dropped out of the Pre--Bident s Handicap, the chief sprint exent of the day, being* IVfarie's Acre, Dark Shadow, Brunhild and Cappy. Llangollen, who is at the top with 9.3, won with lib less over six furlongs on this course in November, beating a'smart field, and since then performed well at the Ellerslie summer meeting.'
