KINDERGARTEN DIRECTOR.
APPOINTED TO MELBOURNE.
A farewell morning tea in the Northcote Returned Soldiers' rooms was tendered by the combined Onewa Free Kindergarten committee and the Mothers' Club to Miss F. I. Gilfillan, who has accepted the position of director of a free kindergarten at
The president, Mrs. A. Cowie, expressed the regret occasioned by the resignation as director of Miss Gilfillan, who had successfully, conducted the kindergarten at Northcote for the past five years and had endeared herself to children and mothers- alike. Congratulations on her advancement were offered and best wishes conveyed for every success and happiness in her new environment. The gift was made of a handsome leather handbag, and also of a gipsy georgette scarf from the kindergarten children.
The Mayoress of Northcote, Mrs. R. Martin, also spoke in appreciation of the work at Northcote of Miss Gilfillan, who leaves by the Awatea next Tuesday.
At a meeting of the committee subsequently, Miss Beryl Winstone, who has been the assistant at the kindergarten, was appointed director to succeed Miss Gilfillan.
