FATAL EXPLOSION.
MAN'S 'BODY IN TENT. HAD BEEN DEPRESSED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. The mutilated body of Mr. Edgar David Hamilton McEwen, aged about 39, of Sea View Terrace, Mount Albert, Auckland, was found in a Public Works Department camp tent at Paircre, seven miles from Putaruru, yesterday. The body was lying in a bunk, the centre of which collapsed from the force of an explosion. He was employed by the Department as storcmnii and timekeeper.' At the inquest opened at Putaruru yesterday Boy Penlington, an engineer, said McEwen left the camp on Friday night and failed to return to work. He nas low in spirits and had been in .■hnrgo of the magazine. ■ Occupants of nearby tents stated they heard- a muffled., explosion on rinirsday morning. The inqu'tst; was adjourned.
