Kcl.l, Germany during the crisis A man; oiamcd Schmfdt has also been arrested. It is believed he will be charged similarly. The arrest of Dr. Roos and some of his followers on Tuesday resulted from the discovery of compromising documents in the homes of the Autonomists. Dr Roos was acquitted on a similar charge in 1928. Later he preached the Nasi "ospel and supported the Munich agreement as a triumph for German nationalism; declaring that France was a small nation without glory. When Alsace returned to France in 1018 Dr Roos carried on a private school at Strasbourg until 1024, in which venr lie accepted the post of education adviser to the French mining administration in the Saar. However, | he resigned in the spring of 1020,, as he 'objected to the methods of the trench | authorities. He then became active in I the Alsatian Autonomist movement, ! boiii"-. one of the founders of the • "Hciniatbund," which ' demands an 'Alsatian Legislature,. •'." ■'>'.■•'
