TO-DAY IN CHRISTCHURCH. STILL VERY DULL. GOVERNMENT STOCKS FIRM. . (By Telegraph —Special to "Star.") ' .' CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Most sections were dull on the Stock Exchange this morning. There was only one seller of Government stock. An offci of £99 3/ was made for the 3M per cent 1939-52 issue. Buyers were keen for 4 pel cent issues at £98 I'2/G. The banking section was quiet, there being an inquiry for -Sew Zealand* at 3S/7 and unsupported sellers of New South Wales at £30 17/8. Ex dividend quotes for X.Z. 'Refrigerating found sellers off the market. Buyers offered 17/ for fully paids and 7/3 for the contributing. Woollens maintained their recent advance. Kaiapoi 17/ paids having a market at 11/9 to 13/, Gas shares -rere weak, sellers of Christchurch asking 23/4. . After active sales Xcw Zealand Brewerics at 40/ were sellers at the same price, buyers Id below. Tooheys new issue was quoted between 2/ and 5/. ' There were few sales in the miscellaneous and industrial sections. Buyers of Australian Giass nffeved £5 12/G and for Broken Hills 57/. Electrolytic Zinc ordinaries wsre on the Market between 47/ and 47/6, but in several other instances there was a lack of buying inquiry.
