PARIS, February 8.
\T. BoiWt, Foreign Minister, in the curse of hw speecii yesterday, when he mi id that France would not surrender tin inch of territory to Italy, nor would »he permit a foreign Power to threaten the integrity of Spain, also displayed a conciliatory spirit. He claimed that no effort to dissipate misunderstanding would be neglected. "We cannot imagine Italy committing njfjrression agaiimt France." he added. "The two nations »re solemnly bound by tics of language, culture and blood. Obviously referring to the Italian Press. M. Bonnet declared that attempts had been made to find a divergence of opinion between Britain and France, to which Mr. Chamberlain had replied clearly and effectively. The United States was a faithful friend, hut it wa« necessary to leave Franco-American friendship some shade of discretion to avert exuberance which might be prejudicial to it. Mr. Roosevelt had shown the greatest understanding, nnd the three democracies, united, had nothing to fear from anyone. "MOST RUTHLESS WAR." PRIME MINISTER'S FEAR. Independent Cable Service.
