RECRUITING CAMPAIGN. A MAYOR JOINS UP. I (From Our Own Correspondent.) SYDNEY, February 2. In 10 weeks the recruiting campaign conducted by the Minister of External Affaire, Mr. W. M. Hughes, hae raised the strength of the militia from lens than 3.~>,000 to over 32,000, and it is now fairlv certain that the desired strength of 70.000 will very soon .be reached. r Among the latest recruits is Alder- - man S. K. Parry. Mayor of Canterbury, ni.d almi chairman of the f20.000.000 Sydney County Council electricity undertaking. He enlisted as a private in the .Vith Battalion. With him the town clerk of Canterbury, Mr. E. A. Jay, also joined up. e Both are ex-A.I.F. men. Alderman e Parry enlisted when he was Iβ and Mr. Jay when hn ni 17.
