WOOL TRADE.

GOOD SMiE AT DUNEMN. BACK TO DECEMBER bEMEL. ! ALMOST TOTAL, CLEARANCE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN-, Wednesday. The second Dunedin wool sale was held to-day when catalogues totalling 27,284 bales were offered. Apart from a few super lines, which were eagerly competed for, the selection was not up to the usual Dunedin second sale standard, owing largely to adverse weather conditions and Hbortage of feed during the winter and early spring. A larger proportion of -highcountry wools was offered than nsual. These opened up a little thinner and showed a tendency to be off colour with dry yolk. North Otago wools appeared to be in better condition than is usually case. . Competition was fairly well spread, but the Continental section took a big percent of the catalogue, botli in line fleece suitable for their requirement*! and in skirtings of all descriptions. Bradford, bought moderately and support was also given by Germany, Japan and the United States of America. Aβ usual, local mills were well in the market for better-class wools, their main attention being focused (on Merino fluarterbreds and fine pieces. They did not pay the same attention to super fine halfbreds as at the Christchurch sale. Aα compared with the previous Dunedin sale on December 20, super style Merinos can In , quoted definitely dearer, but averag<> to inferior fine wools and also all fine ci-oaebmls can be quoted fully firm on December rates. Pieces of all descriptions can be quoted slightly easier, except three <junrterbred and o-roeebred erutchr ings. Fine ciutchings were dull of sale and sold at low rates. Growers met the market well and a good clearance was effected at auction of fully 05 per cent, with the prospect of iurther sales being made privately. The top ptieo realised was 18d for three bales of super Merino branded Puketoi. grown by Mrs. Watson Sheenan, of Puketoi station. Official Range of Prices.
