ECHO OF PROVINCIAL TOURNEY
The North Auckland CVicket Amociation yesterday dinciuteed the position of it* representative teum which played in the provincial tourney at Eden P»rk during the ( hriHtmuH holidays. Mr. F. C. H. Cowan (president) stated that only u handful of the player* who were choeen put in an appearance, although definite uiurnnon had been given by the players themselves and the Htib-aeiiocia-tion* concerned that the players would be available. The selector wu asked by the executive to approach the player* concerned and, fniliriK a satisfactory explanation, it was agreed that these players be debarred from biK cricket in the future. The manager of the tearti (Mr. W. Saul) ■aid hirata had been jfivpn by Auckland Cricket Association officials that in future the North Auckland team »hould be nearer it* real strength. The team lout nil four matches, but its kenness and the fielding, especially of the younger play ere, won high praise. . Mr. Cowan (who in alwo sole selector) Intimated his intention of calling immediately for nominations of thoee qualified and' available to take part in the Hawke Cup match against Waikato during Piaster, a challenge having been issued by North Auckland.
