By-Laws.—The Waitara Borough Council HiutKt'Mtrd co-operation in requesting the Internal Affairs Department to draw Up a set of model by-laws which could be adopted in whole, or in part, at the discretion of the smaller local bodies. It wae decided to point out that at present the Standards Institute was investigating the possibility of uniform by-laws throughout the Dominion. Water.—The waterworks engineer, Mr. Walter Williams, reported that gallons of water had been received from the city supply for the past month. This wo* 6f>e,ooO gallons more than in 'the previous month, the increase being due to the dry weather and to the fact that water was used for irrigation by strawberry growers and market gardeners. Assistant.—The resignation of Mr. T. Chapman as office assistant was accepted v. itli regret, and appreciation of his services was recorded. The filling of the position by a lady assistant was left to thp Mayor and Town Clerk. Penalty.—-It was resolved to add the penalty of 10 per cent to all current rate* unnaid after Wednesday, 22nd inst. Domain Caretaker.—Mr. W. A. Atkins was appointed caretaker of Kauri Point Domain.
