British And Germans Try To
Settle Differences.
LEADERS OF INDUSTRY.
RUGBY, February 8. The President of the Board of Trade, Mr. Oliver Stanley, in answer to a question in the House of Commons, said informal conversations had been taking place between officials of the Federation of British Industries, and the Reichsgruppe Industrie, with the view to devising means to settle the problems arising from the competition between [the industries of the two countries. These conversations, which had been proceeding with all knowledge and approval of the British Government were to be followed at the end of the month by formal discussions betweei the two organisations. He hoped i< would then be possible to initiate direct negotiations between a numbei of British industries and competing industries in Germany. He expressec the hope that" British industrialist! would avail themselves extensivelv o: the opportunity to make direct contac with their German competitors.
