SUVA, January 9L The steamer Suva, the first veaeel of her name to be registered at Su»*» arrived on her maiden voyage from Jmm don and Pacific Coast ports yesterdayBuilt by Bartram and Sons, Limited, «f Sunderland, she was constructed mpwt ally for the England-Fiji-New Guinea service, conducted by W. R. Carpenter and Company, Limited.
The vessel's gross tonnage is 4873 tow*, with a dead-weight carrying capacity of 9150 tons. Her overall length is 422 ft, beam 56ft Tin, and loaded draught 25ft 6in. She is expected to average ovar 12 knots when loaded. The vessel is wall fitted with all the latest aids to navigation, and has exceptionally wellequipped refrigerating chamber* for the carriage of provisions, and email quantities of refrigerated cargo. After calling at Lautoka and Vatia, the new port for the gold mines, tfc» steamer will return to Suva to l°*£i quantity of copra.
