HIT WITH BOTTLE.
QUARTERMASTER ASSAULTED. SEAMAN IS FINED £4. An able-bodied seaman in the Napier Star, Robert Bullock Watt (44), appeared in the Police Court before Mr. V. H. Levien, S.M., yesterday and admitted a charge of assaulting Ralph Slade.
Sub-Inspector Fox Raid that at 8.30 last night Watt struck Slade, the ship's quartermaster, 011 the head with an empty beer bottle. Slade was not seriously hurt. Watt explained to the arresting constable that Slade had called him a wrtain name, but this Slade denied. Watt had taken some liquor. He did not desire to go back in the ship in case tlie incident would result in unpleasantness. His conduct had been good while he had been in the ship, while his record during the last twenty years at sea was a fine one. A fine of £4 was imposed.
