WESTFIELD MARKET. RISE IN OX BEEF. SMAIXER YARDING OF CATIXE There wae ft further decline in the number of fat cattle offered at the Westheld fat etock market to-day. As a result demand was keen and ox beef rose one shilling per 1001b on last week's prices, while cows and heifers sold at firm late rates. The improvement in the growth of pastures following the rain is the main reason for the firming trend of the market. Farm ere are not eo anxious to unload stock as they were a fortnight ago when feed wae becoming scarce owing to the dry weather. The quality of the ox beef was well up to the usual standard, but the offering of cows and heifers w<ts mediocre. The best of bhe steere were included in a truck of nine from Mr. Walter Wakelin, Whangarei. which sold at from £12 10/ to £15 2/6. Four other lots made up to £15, the siipplieiv being Messrs. K. D. Orr, Tnakau, Matthews Brothers, Paengaroa, H. E. Reed, Waereuga, and W. J. Mills, Rangiriri. There wae an average yarding of calves, including a large proportion of small vealers. Prices, were eteady on last week's quotations.
