CHAIRS ESTABLISHED.
BOTANY AND ZOOLOGY. AUCKLAND UNIVERSITY COLLEGE. (By Telegraph,— Press Association) CHRISTCHtJRCH, Tuesday. The Senate of the University of New Zealand to-day authorised the establishment of chairs of botany and zooloarv at Auckland University College. This decision was made after discussion in committee. Lectureships In J!o6logy and botany were created at the Auckland University College some years ago following the resignation of Professor J. C. SperrinJohnson from the ehair of biology Mr VV. R. McGregor Was appointed lecturer in zoology and Mr. T. L. Lancaster lecturer in botany, and they have since retained their respective posts. Both departments have grown considerably in recent- years.
