YACHTING.
COMBINED CLUBS' REGATTA. XORTHCOTE AND BIRKENHEAD. Arrangements were finalised at tlie meeting l>f the committee last night for the sailing and launch events of the \ortlnote ami Birkenhead regatta, to be held next Saturday, lltli inst. Mr. C. J. \V. Tay lor presided. To-morrow will he the final day for receiving entries, which may be left at John Burns and Company, Ltd., Auckland, up till f> |>,m., or at tlie Xorthcote Borough (. hiiinbeiM between 7 and !) .p.m. Prizes and championship Hags are to be similar as last year, except for V. yachts, which are to be raced in two divisions, first, second and third' prizes each, but no championship flag.
The Mayor of Auckland, Sir Ernest Davis, has accepted the office of patron, and Captain H H. Seiitfeant. harbourmaster, that of president. Mr. A. V. Tyer was appointed a judge for the yaclit races. Mr. W. J. Hoare was thanked for his past service on the committee. A vote of condolence was passed with the fa ill il v of the late Mr. Alexander McGilp, of Birkenhead.
