TOSH SPRINTS.

TE NAPA, CANDIDATES. SERGIA DOES BEST ROUND. (By Telegraph.—Special to " Star.") HAMILTON, this day. The going on the coutm proper, 38 feet out, whs in splendid order this morning, when horses witlv engagements at Rotorua -were sent along. Several useful efforts were recorded, the best of the morning over sprint distances heing those of Tosh and Irish Belle and Sergia over a round. . Star Artist (Brady), who is an acceptor for the Rotorua Cup, ran home from a. mile in 1.49V4. She hit out freely, but was not pushed. Rollicker (McKenzie), a fancied candidate for aprint honours at Rotorua, ran home lazily from the half-mile in 565. Rollicker is holding his condition well, and will strip in great heart for pending engagements. Jean Quex (W. Thomson) and Guy Poto (Cotter) dashed home from the three furlongs post in. 30k. Sergia (W. Thomson) traversed a round in 2.8 2-5, and impressed by tho manner in which she was revelling in her work over the concluding stages of the trial. Calorie (.Jones) ran home from tho three furlongs post in 301 4-ss. She appears to have made a good recovery from her recent indisposition. British Sovereign (Gilmer) and a Colossus gelding (Telford), In Tutchen's stable, shaped well over half a mile in 545. The former appears to be making excellent progress. Casual (VV. Thomson) negotiated six furlongs in 1.23. Miss Rangi (Jones), who is to make her debut at Rotorua, traversed half a mile in 55 2-sa. Awhiowhio (Gilmer) and Queen .Lu (Telford) were associated over six furlongs in 1.25. Awhiowhio, who was recently recommia•ioned by Tutchen, Is making steady progress. He hM been entered. for engagements at the approaching Waikato meeting, but may not be sufficiently forward to show to advantage on hia home course next week. Prince Acre (Winder) and Susan (Hain), both of whom have recently beeVi brought in again by A. Winder, were companions over nnlf a mile and shaped satisfactorily to register 55%5. They look in solid condition to enter on a further preparation. Senacre (Long) dashed over three furlonga in 40a, and Stansted (R. E. Thomson) ran once round in 2.12 3-5. Stanated should acquit himself well in jumping engagements ahead. Cynical Smile (Hain) and Mio Lume (Winder) were associated over a round and finished well to record 3.8 4-5. Both are bearing a healthy appearance, and should lack little on the acore of condition when called upon to race. A smart three furlongs was credited to Water Fox (Long) and Hunto (Winder), who came home in 37'/4s. Tosh (Watson) and Irish Belle (Gilmer) finished abreast at the completion of half a mile in 53 l-ss, the best of the morning over the distance. Tosh looks all the better for recent racing and may make amends at Rotorua for disappointments On the score of condition it would be difficult to fault the son of Commandant. The maiden Irish Belle, who was earlier schooled over four pony fences along the back, impressed by the way she was sticking to her work over the concluding stapes nf the trial.

W. At. Thomson will ride Sergla and Jean Quex in their Rotortia engagements.
