RIVER BOARD'S LOAN
PRECARIOUS POSITION. MEMBER 18 CRITICAL. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) HASTINGS, Monday. The precarious position of the Ngaruroro River scheme loan was revealed to-day at the Hawke'a Bay River Board's monthly meeting at Napier. "We have enough for about a fortnight," said Mr. Q. fcwwen, thechairman, commenting on the neoessltyfor receiving frotp the State Advances Cornation the balance, £18.200, of the Ngaruroro Ri*er Iqan. "If the corporation does not take up the loan, we will have to close down." A board member, Mr. H. M. Thompson. said be was the one who resented the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. j R. SempleV remarks alleging the board were "mucking up" the scheme, but now he was inclined to agree with the Minister. Mr. Thompson alleged that 'the board was wasting money and was without a proper plan. . . Thia was vigorously denied by tne chairman, who answered specific com- ' plaint*.
