STEPS FOR FORMATION. ELECTION OP PRESIDENT. ■ ii (By —Press Association.) PALMERS TON NORTH, this day. Steps f»r the formation of a Nsw Zealand consumers' league were taken at a meeting last night. This was the sequel to a proposal advanced by the Farmers' Union that such a body would be a valuable method of focusing the point of view of tho?9 concerned at rising costs and consequent, injury to trade. Colonel 8. J. Cloeey produced the organisation plans. The object* were defined am guarding and advancing the righto and welfare of the conaunier, ill particular with regard to goods and •erviccs offered for sale. Mr. A. E. Mansford wao elected president. Colonel Close* stated that 31 branches were ready to be formed.
