DEMAND FOR LAMB. THE SMITHFIELD MARKET. The following cable, dated London, February 1 r has been received by the Bank of Australasia from its London office: —• "Frozen Lambs.—-Demand for New Zealand new seaiHiii's is disappointing. Opening prices were not long maintained and although arrivals not too heavy, the market continues slightly easier. Australian lambs: Trade continues to be slow and values weaker, especially summer grades. Frozen mutton: Business is dull for both wethers and ewes, an<f prices practically unchanged; latterly, there has been more inquiry for li«ht-w>igihts.
