After Fifty Years

After fifty years two brothers were united in Auckland when the Orient liner Oronsay arrived. They were William Garrick (left), who has resided in . Auckland for thirty years, and Mr. Joseph Garrick, a retired chemist of Melbourne. The former is seventy-five years of age and his brother three years his senior. Mr. Joseph Garrick was a passenger by the cruise ship, his main idea in making the journey being to visit his brother, who is living in retirement in the city. *'Half a century is a long time to look back upon," he said. "We have corresponded at intervals,' but with the increasing years I thought it was betetr to make a personal visit than to rely on letters, and so I booked my passage and am glad to find my brother looking as well as he says I appear to be." The Garrick family is blessed with longevity. There are two brothers in Australia v Mr. Thomas Garrick, of Brisbane, who is in his eighty-sixth year, and Mr. Jack Garrick, of the same city, who is seventy-six years of age.
