Hundreds of visitors arrived by special train and buses, and indications point to a successful function tinanciallv.

With an excellent entry of 71 crews, including the leading oarsmen of the province, competition was tlie keenest seen for many seasons. Thirteen clubs were represented, about 270 oarsmen participating.

Much interest was taken in the appearance of the New Zealand champions, Clifton, who contested the senior fours event in one of the largest anil keenest fields seen in the Dominion. Water conditions were ideal at Petone yesterday, when the Wnlllngton rowing regatta was held. With entries from Auckland. Tauranga, Wanganul, Blenheim and Napier the regatta was really a full-dress rehearsal for the Dominion championships at Plcton n«vxt Saturday. All the events were keenly contested. The two principal races, the open eights and the senior fours, were won by Wanganul Union, whose four tirsts and four seconds In 11 starts for prize-monoy amounting to *4.">, was an excellent performance. Petone's four first* and three seconds netted orly £24. but the club had the distinction of winning the covet ml! "double," the Brldson Tup for the junior singles sculls and the I'earce Cup for the senior singles sculls. Equally gratifying to the club was the performance of I~ Abbott In beating K.
