EXCELLENT FIELDS.

ACCEPTANCES FOR SATURDAY

THE OPENING DAY. Excellent acceptances „were received yesterday for-the first day of the Auckland Trotting Club's February meeting, winch opens at Alexandra Park next Saturday, and' will be concluded, on the following Wednesday. All the southern horses, which include Air Pilot, Bill B, Shadow Son, Centaurus, Te Roto, AudreyV Last and. Arapai, remain in and these should add -interest, to the fixture. . .All' those nominated for.the Otaliuliu Handicap, the chief handicap event of the day, and also the Blount Albert.Handicap, were accepted for, while Star Guide was the only defection from the Great Northern-;-Derby, leaving a field of 10 in the classic event. The "Waitemata Handicap has drawn 31 horses, and it will be divided, the divisions being treated as separate races, one being , run on the first day and the other 011 the second.

On Saturday Yan Derby will endeavour io lower his mile record of 2.1 1-5 immediately after tlie fourth race—the Otahuhu Handicap. #
