After the quietest week of the year this morning's call on the Christchurch. Stock '3 Exchange gave no indication of a recovery. There was one sale of Electrolytic Zinc preferences at tlie firm rate of 50/ and a ( sale reported of New Zealand Breweries at 40/1, which is 2d cheaper than wheu Jj they last had business. There was again a strong demand for Government stock, one buyer reaching the record price for this year with an oiler of 0 £99 15/ for 4 per cent 1946-49, but sellers 0 were not interested. 0 Bank of New Zealand were a point 0} weaker from 38/2 to 3S/5, but other bank--0 ing shares were generally firm. Dalgetys q appeared weaker in the land and•agency 0 section. Sellers lowered their limit 6d to £7 16/, but were still 9/ above the best 6 offers. 9 Australian industrials recovered after q yesterday's slight reaction. Buyers of Australian Glass went up 1/ to £5 9/6, but sellers asked £5 10/. Broken Hill Pron prietary had stronger buyers at 57/9, com--0 pared with 57/ yesterday,, while Woolq worths (Xew Zealand) had offers 3d better 0 at 17/3 and sellers at 18/.
